lockPrivacy & Security
justREC is a local-first application. All audio recordings, transcripts, meeting summaries, and configuration files are stored directly on your Mac. We do not run any cloud databases and do not sync or cache your transcripts on our servers. You are in absolute control of your files.
Your API keys (for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini) are stored securely in the native macOS Keychain. They are encrypted using system-level security and are only decrypted locally when sending transcription or summarization requests directly to your selected provider.
No. justREC has no cloud account system and does not collect or train models on your recordings. When you bring your own API keys, your data is subject to the developer terms of your API provider. Typically, developer APIs (like OpenAI's API or Anthropic's API) have strict policies against using API requests for model training, unlike retail ChatGPT or Claude subscriptions.
