Welcome to justREC. By downloading, installing, or using the justREC desktop application for macOS (the “Software”) or accessing our website (justrec.site), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Software.
1. License Grant
Subject to these Terms, justREC grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and limited license to download, install, and use the Software on compatible Apple Mac computers that you own or control.
- Free Evaluation: You may use the Software free of charge with limited projects.
- Lifetime Unlock: You may purchase a lifetime license key through the Mac App Store to unlock unlimited projects and advanced export options.
2. Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) Responsibility
The Software relies on third-party Artificial Intelligence API providers (such as OpenAI and Anthropic) for speech-to-text transcription and text summarization:
- API Keys: You must provide your own API keys. You are solely responsible for procuring, configuring, and maintaining active accounts with these providers.
- Financial Liability: You are fully responsible for all usage charges and costs billed to you by your third-party API providers. justREC is not responsible for any expenses incurred through your API usage.
- Direct Interactions: The Software connects your device directly to third-party endpoints. justREC does not control, maintain, or warrant the availability, speed, performance, or privacy practices of these third-party provider's APIs.
3. Local Audio & Data Control
You maintain full ownership and control of all audio recordings, transcripts, summaries, and notes generated using the Software.
- Recording Permissions: You represent and warrant that you have obtained all necessary consents, permissions, and rights from all participants before recording any call or meeting. You are solely responsible for compliance with local recording laws in your jurisdiction (including multi-party consent laws).
- Data Safety: Because the Software stores all files locally on your Mac, you are responsible for maintaining backups. justREC cannot recover lost recordings or deleted project folders.
4. Intellectual Property
The Software, website, logos, designs, text, and graphics are the intellectual property of justREC and its licensors. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Software unless permitted by law.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMISSIBLE UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, JUSTREC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT TRANSCRIPTS OR SUMMARIES GENERATED BY THIRD-PARTY AI SERVICES WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, LINGUISTICALLY CORRECT, OR ERROR-FREE.
6. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL JUSTREC BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, REVENUE LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
7. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
